1:Nowadays there is often a lack of understanding between parents and children.Children
often complain that their parents like to interfere in their activities, while parents grumble their
children s disregard of their opinions .Thus a big generation gap emerges.

例2:In recent years, the competition among youths for the admission to graduate schools is
getting keener and keener .As is shown in the chart, the number of examinees in 1988 have in-
creased nearly four times more than that of 1988,but the number of enrollees has just increased 80
per cent in the same period .Should every college student squeeze through the“narrow path”?

例3:It is no doubt that the purpose of the sellers, and even the segments of the cartoon is to mock the various promises made by advertisers rnment

4:The Coming of the Age of Knowledge一based Economy.
It is almost certain that we have entered the age of knowledge-based economy .Everybo勿can
sense the great shock of it .To rise to the challenge of the age,or to take the challenge lying down,
that is the question.
not to be, that is the question.,’
Well,no gain without pain, they say .But what about pain without gain?Everywhere you go in
America, you hear tales of corporate revival .What is ha川er to establish is whether the productivity
revolution that businessmen assume they are presiding over is for real.
No pains, no
gains。
